Why Guardian developed a Locking Deck Sleeve

Some of Guardian Pool Fence Systems’ dealers were requesting a pole that could not be removed from the deck sleeves. This came about because some building inspectors did not want to approve a fence that could be removed simply by unhooking the fence sections and pulling the poles out of the deck sleeves. Building inspectors wanted the poles to be locked in the sleeve. They also wanted the system to require tools to physically remove the poles.

Guardian already had a locking button system, but it didn’t require any tools to remove it. One of the dealers, Blaine Hall, came up with the fantastic idea of replacing the top button with a threaded screw. When the screw head is up against the pole, the pole cannot be removed from the deck sleeve. To release the pole, you first need to enter through the locked gate, then locate the screw on the inside of the fence and back the screw out about a half inch with a screwdriver. Once the screw is backed out, the head of the screw can be pushed in toward the pole to release the locking button below the deck. Blaine is listed in the patent as a Co-Inventor.

The entire locking mechanism is made from 304 stainless steel which will not rust.
